Linkbuilding Basics that every SEO should know

Linkbuilding is, in a nutshell, the strategy by which you get certain relevant sites on the internet to link to a part of our website. But it is an unknown world for many who are not familiar with the world of SEO, even for some people related to digital marketing. Therefore, we will explain some concepts necessary to understand what linkbuilding is and what factors are included in it.

What are the links?

They are hyperlinks that are placed on a page of a website to mention or recommend another website. The user who is reading the first website can click on that link and a new web page will open, (in the same window or another window or tab) just the one he wanted to recommend.

The basic syntax of a link is as follows:

<a rel=†relation† href=†destinyurl•> Anchor text </a>

For example, if somewhere in the text I want to link another website, for example to Wikipedia, it would be as follows:

<a href=†https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypelink>> Hyperlink Wikipedia </a>

Links have the following sensitive factors:

Link Ratio:

Follow: these are links that are followed by search engines. The link also transfers Link Juice (or link pop or Page Rank) to the landing page. This tag is put on it anywhere in the first <a, such as: <a rel = “dofollow” Href = “https://www.brand.com”> Test link </a>. Usually not placed as default do-follow.

Nofollow: it is used when we do not want Google or any robot to follow that link. Therefore, Link Juice does not pass (or linkpop or Page Rank [or at least initially]. This does not mean that they are not necessary. The syntax is rel = “nofollow”.

Author: Although it is deprecated it is used to define the author of the text to which it is linked and is also owned by the origin of the link.

Prev, next. They are used in page links. In this case, “Next” goes on the link to the next page and “prev” for the previous page. It has nothing to do with the next and the prev that is placed in the head.

Hi, everyone. I have returned to continue where we left in my article about budgeting. But before start our SEO project. Let´s talk about some aspects that you should also take into account.

One of the questions that I always ask the owners who ask me for an SEO Budget is how fast they are, or how long they want to position. If they tell you in 3-4 months, then you can tell them to hire AdWords because you can’t help them. It is a way to gauge the need and understanding of the owners about SEO.

Another question I ask or like to know is if they have an in-house development department or is it external. It is not an inconvenience one thing or the other. But you have to be very careful, to not disturbing anyone, and without anyone seeing you as a threat, but as a help. Here it is important that the employer supports you and has all the support of them. This is because they will see you as a trustworthy person of the owners, and we already know what it means.

I like to know also if they have already done an SEO campaign before with another company. I don’t like to ask for the name of the previous company. If I see that the work is not well done, I tend to soften it, since I do not want to put in trouble any companion or friend company. But at the end of the day, they pay me to discover errors and solve them. I don’t put my finger on the sore, but I’m objective. If the work is well done I say it without a doubt.

It would also be very interesting to know the budget they have for work that needs to be done during SEO work, such as buying links, buying or developing content, programming modifications … This will mark the course of the project a bit.

SEO Audit

The Best WordPress Themes and Plugins for SEO

Before starting with the themes and plugins, I want to say that, whenever the project is not very large, I value the option of dispensing WordPress and opting for some landings in HTML, with a bit of PHP and CSS. That’s a quick loading time worth of talking!

Regarding themes and plugins, I use many. At the end of the day, it always depends a little on the project you are working on and the needs of it. But if I can choose, these are the ones I like to use.

THEMES

Writer: This is a super simple theme with very few files, which makes it ideal to be able to start from scratch and modify it to your liking while maintaining a very light and surprisingly fast loading base. It is very useful for automatic websites.

Dulcet: Is another very simple theme that I love to use in some projects. It is not as simple as Writer so it can be customized a little more and give it a little more “life” without really overloading it.

PinkSEO Theme: it is the theme that I created for my Training Rosa course, I am using this theme in my blog (among other sites) and it is designed to be able to make a site a bit more “colorful” but without losing focus on the simplicity of a theme and especially the lightness of it. It also has obfuscation links implemented as standard to avoid loss of juice in repeated links, footer, and so on. In the end, it is a theme that saves me a lot of time when I want to make a website more or less fast.

PLUGINS

Table of contents plus: this plugin seems to me “ a must-have” in WordPress – since it can generate tables of contents automatically from our H tags, which will make it easier for us to see links to these “sections” of our articles in the meta description of the SERPS.

SEO By Yoast: if you use WordPress you need a plugin like Yoast to be able to customize the meta title and meta description, in addition to being able to also manage the meta robots non-index tags of the areas that you are not interested in being indexed on your website. I put yoast as an example but there are other plugins that we could also use if we don’t like Yoast, the important thing is to have one.

WP Rocket: it is always good to use a cache system to speed up WordPress loading, I like WP Rocket a lot, but there are also other very powerful and free cache plugins. The good thing about WP Rocket is that it also has options for minifying and unifying CSS and Javascript files, which saves you having to install another plugin.

Factors to consider in an SEO Budget

For the elaboration of an SEO budget, you must take into account several details that, a priori, escape from our hands. If you have already done one and made a mistake, do not worry, it is normal. It has happened to all of us on certain occasions.

The truth is you have to find the perfect balance between price and service. If we budget over the service we are going to provide, we will be out of the market and we will not keep the contract. If budgets underneath, two things can happen: that they don’t trust you because you go cheaper from the industries average, or that they hire you for the project and lose money.

What do I need to prepare an SEO budget?

Domain name

The first thing we need is the domain we are going to work on. Without the domain of the website, we cannot prepare a budget. With the Domain we can know how the web is currently doing, the niche in which it operates, the competition it has, the work that needs to be done, the quality and quantity of links needed, if a penalty has to be lifted and much more.

If the project is not yet designed and has no domain, we will have to know – at least- the sector where operates, to evaluate the competition.

Project Objectives

The objectives will be very important, as they will mark the final goal -or all of them- and it will be our job to establish the strategy to reach that goal. Therefore, we must have the objective the company has been marked to establish the necessary number of hours or the resources we must contribute. It is recommended they be based on the SMART Technique (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Temporary).

Indexable URLs and indexed URLs

When we talk about indexed URLs are the URLs that are currently on Google. While indexable are the ones we want to be indexed.
